Dinner & Dialogue

Date: Tuesday 11/12

Time: 5:30-7:00 pm

Location: Zip Code East Bay (388 Colusa Ave, Kensington, CA 94707)

Like all towns in the East Bay (and beyond), Kensington lies on stolen Indigenous land. We live in the ancestral and present-day homeland of the Lisjan Nation people. In light of this fact, how can non-Indigenous residents of Kensington live here in a good way? Good Guest Kensington invites our neighbors and friends of all backgrounds to explore this question. We’ll touch on the Indigenous history of this place, how Lisjan Nation people are working right now to rematriate their land and revitalize their culture, and how we can support their work. You’ll also meet neighbors with shared interests. Please join us!

We will provide a simple dinner and drinks. Please feel welcome to bring your own nourishment or something to share with others.

RSVP is appreciated (but not required): goodguestkensington@gmail.com

Kids in Huchiun

Who are the Indigenous people of Kensington?
What can we learn about our local creeks, plants and animals?
How does knowing this help us to live as good guests in someone else’s homeland?

Together with The Watershed Project, we'll use the book Kiyana and the Wildcat Creek and a guided arts activity to explore these questions!

Bring a lunch if you’d like to join us for a picnic in the park immediately following the program.

Each child must be accompanied by an adult for the duration of the program.

Registration by 10/8 is required. This will help us create the best possible experience for your child. Each child must be accompanied by an adult for the duration of the program. Please contact us at goodguestkensington@gmail.com with any questions or feedback.
